Great Wall
To walk the Great Wall of China has always been a dream and to finally climb steps with over 2000 years of history is quite overwhelming. Built to protect the Chinese Empire from invaders - particularly the Mongolians, it also safeguarded the Silk Road trading route and contributed to the nations economic and cultural development.

Badaling, located 70km from Beijing, is where you can view the best preserved sections of the wall and even though it was steep in parts, I had great satisfaction when I reached the end of the restored section of the wall.
The quiet and uninterrupted scenery of rolling hills dotted with sections of the wall is something I will always remember.

But don’t forget to explore Beijing’s other treasures - Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven as well as Wangfujing Street for shopping and local food treats.

No continent offers such a richness and diversity of history, culture and travel experiences like North & Central Asia.

China’s bustling cities of Hong Kong and Beijing with their mix of ancient and modern are in stark contrast to the vibrant green rice fields around Guilin and Yangshuo plus the amazing cultural highlights of the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors.

Tibet lies on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of the southwest border of China and is known as the "Roof of the World" with the world’s highest peak Mt Everest. Although a part of China, Tibet has a unique culture of all there own and most tourists visit this region in the warmest seasons of June, July, August and early September.

What better way to traverse this vast region than onboard the Trans Siberian and Trans Mongolian railway. Trace the ancient paths of trade and conquest whilst experiencing the local culture first hand.

Adventure World has a varied range of travel types and styles to suit every visitor from sampling a Mongolian nomadic lifestyle in a traditional Ger to five Star opulence in downtown Hong Kong!
